Embracing Technology in Relationships: A Humorous Misstep
Today, I stumbled upon an unexpected twist regarding my previous blog post about the influence of technology on romantic relationships. It turns out that I inadvertently sent out a rather perplexing message to all my subscribers.
The Concept Behind the blog
The article was titled “Is Your Partner Cheating…With Technology?” My intention was to utilize technology as a means to spark discussions between partners about its effects on their relationship. I thought it would be amusing to embed audio clips within the post that produced quirky sounds. The idea was for readers to click these sound buttons while their partner was nearby, piquing their curiosity and prompting them to inquire about the noises. This could serve as a perfect prospect for couples to engage with each other, read through the blog together, and address some thought-provoking questions in a light-hearted manner—much like casting bait into water and waiting for fish to bite.
A Risky Strategy
Of course, this tactic had its risks—it could easily be seen as somewhat sneaky or even manipulative—but in a playful way! Given that my earlier blog focused on conflict resolution strategies, I figured thay were already equipped with tools for handling any potential fallout from this approach. If my attempt at intriguing partners didn’t come across as an innocent invitation for dialogue, I planned on encouraging them both to break any tension by pressing those funny sound buttons until laughter ensued. Personally, every time I tested one of those sounds made me chuckle; after all, I’m someone who enjoys shiny objects that make noise!
The Technical Glitch
However, there was an issue: I discovered that adding audio files required upgrading my WordPress account. Initially thinking I’d consider upgrading later on, I decided rather to rewrite that section without including any audio elements temporarily. But then came the blunder—I accidentally hit “PUBLISH” before finalizing those changes.
This mistake meant everyone subscribed received an email containing instructions related to non-existent sound buttons! To add insult to injury, this particular blog had just been highlighted by the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapists (AAMFT) Facebook page—resulting in many new subscribers joining at just the wrong moment! So here’s a warm welcome (and sincere apology) from me: AAMFT members…please disregard that email; you can find the correct version online.
A Lesson Learned
I can’t solely blame technology for this mishap; it ultimately came down to me hitting the wrong button! While confessing here seems appropriate given how things unfolded—I also saw it as a unique chance (albeit accidental) to incorporate humorous audio files into my content along with animated visuals.
And yes—the image at the top may resemble OJ Simpson but rest assured itS not him! Now feeling relieved after sharing this story—and having added another animation—I’ll hit publish once more while hoping there aren’t too many typos as attention is key when discussing relationship repair strategies—weather or not they involve silly noises!
