The Continuing Journey of My Labcorp Invoice
Your interest is appreciated, and I’m excited to share the sixth chapter in the unfolding narrative surrounding my $34.95 invoice from labcorp.
A Quick Overview of What’s Happened So Far
The essence of this tale began in May 2025 when I underwent a laboratory test during a complimentary preventive appointment that was supposed to be fully covered by the Affordable Care Act (ACA).However, I received a bill for these tests and sought clarification on why this charge was applied, as CMS guidelines suggested it should have been included under coverage.

The latest Updates as of September 9th
Pursuing clarity with Brown & Toland Physicians
I decided it was time for follow-up and reached out to Brown & Toland Physicians—or more accurately Altais—the parent association overseeing both them and Blue Shield. After navigating through their phone system’s options and leaving my number for a callback—which occurred sooner than expected—I spoke with an accommodating representative who tried to clarify my situation.
An Analysis of Findings
The representative informed me that on August 14th, Mike from Blue Shield contacted Brown & Toland requesting an evaluation of the original claim (1430201). I’m fairly certain Mike is the same individual we encountered earlier in this saga.
On August 29th, Brown and Toland’s benefits department concluded their assessment but maintained that One Medical did not categorize the initial lab test as preventive services; thus confirming that my co-pay amounting‌ to $34.95 was indeed correct ($322.28 being charged overall). As this total fell below my $50 copay threshold, LabCorp only billed me for what was lower.)
An Unexpected Turn of Events
this coincided with Blue Shield’s ongoing inquiry which led them to request further examination into the matter from Brown & Toland again on September 9th regarding the $34.94 claim—despite having just reviewed it previously on August 29th!
